Local guitar legend, John Sheldon will be hosting the "Masters of the Stratocaster" series starting Thursday January 28th from 9 to 12 in the downstairs lounge.

John Sheldon, a professional guitarist since the age of 14, was Van Morrison's guitar player by 17 and at 21 an accomplished studio musician. Playing guitar on other peoples records was not enough. John decided to learn how to write songs. After years of home demos and strange music jobs, John was feeling that perhaps nothing could happen. Then in the fall of 2000, James Taylor called him to tell him that he was planning to record John's song, "September Grass" for his newest CD. The CD, with "September Grass" as the first cut, came out in 2002. It quickly went platinum. James then recorded "Bittersweet" another of John's tunes and released it on "The Best of James Taylor" (which also went platinum).

Through it all John has been playing gigs in New England for a small but growing group of devoted fans. A master guitarist, songwriter and performer, John often works wih other musicians to put on a show that is rhythmic, infectious, and often cathartic.

Every Thursday he will be playing solo or with another "stratocaster master". Either way it will be a must see opportunity to watch and listen to some great guitar playing. There is no cover for this event so come and get your seat early.
